Everyday Habits Increase Risk of Neurological Disorders

Daily habits may increase the risk of neuropathy. Neuropathy is a disorder or damage to the peripheral nerves with symptoms of tingling, cramping, until numb.

Chairman of Study Group Neurophysiology and Neuroscience PERDOSSI Central Bank dr. Of the 911 people surveyed, 560 people have the habit of typing in the gadget. Most of them often experience tingling and numbness.

According to Luthy the habit is difficult to avoid, because it becomes your job or lifestyle everyday. However, neuropathy can be prevented with adequate rest, regular exercise, consumption of nutritionally balanced food, including meet the intake of vitamins B1, B6, and B12.

If left unchecked, neuropathy can develop into a decrease in motor strength, decreased sensation so easily hurt, impotence, weight loss, injuries, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, to depression.

"If left unchecked could be paralysis, resulting in lower quality of life," said Luthy.

Factors that cause neuropathy among others, lack of vitamins, especially vitamin B1 and B 12, patients with diabetes, lifestyle, age, and presence of a kidney, liver, and thyroid.

"Unhealthy lifestyle such as drinking alcohol, can damage nerves if consumed in excessive amounts," said Luthy.
